Thekla the Spider, simply known as Thekla, was the recurring antagonist-turned-supporting character of the 1975 classic anime series of Maya the Honey Bee, and tertiary antagonist (but sometimes an anti-heroine) of the 2012 CGI series Maya the Bee. She also a minor antagonist of the Maya the Bee films. She is a villainous predatory spider and one of Maya’s enemies, occasionally being a friend to her.
Personality[]
Thekla is an evil spider who lives on her web and one who kills and eats insects for her prey. She is very wicked, scary, predatory, sneaky and greedy towards the bugs and strongly dislikes bees (mainly Maya and Willy) because they were one who rescues them and also her web was being wrecked. She was vicious and wrathful when her meals escaped and she wanted to get revenge on Maya and Willy for stealing her prey.
However she was also forgetful and occasionally allied to Maya and her friends in some episodes, but often she was a evil predator and always hungry. She also was mean, grouchy, grumpy and selfish when she didn’t approve the insects invited her web, overall who was vengeful to Maya and Willy because her preys escaped when they rescued.

- She has served most of the episodes as the primary antagonist (not in the 1975 classic anime series).
- She was brown in the anime, but purple in the tv series.
- She was a minor antagonist in the first and second film.
- It is impossible to have a conversation without her yelling, as she is only interested in catching a meal, and if no one is stuck in her web, she’d rather let them leave.
- She fails a lot by Maya and her meadow insects when she catches and kills them for food in most appearance.
- In the anime, she wears a red headscarf. In the 2012 series, she wears a pink tartan scarf.
- She doesn’t look like an arachnid, even if she is an insect predator.
- She is (occasionally) respectful and kind towards others (mainly Maya and Willy) in the Maya the Bee 2012 TV series and movies but,in the animated series/anime series she is mean,cruel,and evil deadly but,in the series 2 of the anime series/animated series she is thoughtful (kinda lame and mean still).

In the anime, there are two variants of their design. The most used is orange with black spots, but in the early episodes where it appeared, the colors were inverted: black with orange spots.
