Maya the Bee 2 - The Honey Games is a 2018 German-Australian CGI animated film directed by Noel Cleary. It is a sequel of the previous Maya the Bee Movie in 2014.
The film was released in theaters across Germany on March 1, 2018, by Universum Film, and was released in theatres and on DVD in the United States by Shout! Factory from May 1, 2018, and was released in the United Kingdom on July 6, 2018, by Signature Entertainment. Originally, the film was supposed to be released in December of 2017.

When an overenthusiastic Maya accidentally embarrasses the Empress of Buzztropolis, she is forced to unite with a team of misfit bugs and compete in the Honey Games for a chance to save her hive.

Summary (SPOILERS WARNING!!!)[]
Bees Maya and Willy race a dragonfly. An enthusiastic Ronnie advises her to take part in the upcoming competition between the hives for the Honey Cup. Maya would love to participate in the tournament, but their hive is never invited. On their way back to the hive, Maya and Willy run into an important Sir Beegood III who is carrying an important message from the Empress of Buzztropolis for Beatrice, the head of the Poppy Meadow hive. Maya is sure that this can only be one piece of news - their hive will be invited to participate in the Honey Games.
Maya and Willy escort Sir Beegood III to Beatrice, who gives a speech to the hive. Beegood announces that their hive has been honoured to donate half of the honey they have collected to the Honey Games fund. Beatrice cannot refuse to do the Empress' bidding, even though their hive is then doomed to starve to extinction. An outraged Maya comes to Beatrice and discovers that the Empress is her older sister. Beatrice realises that their situation is very sad, but her sister will not listen to her.
Maya suggests that Willy go to Buzztropolis and make things right. Maya persuades Drago the dragonfly to take them to Buzztropolis. By chance, the friends find themselves in a queue to bow to the Empress. Maya comes out in front of the Empress and declares that it is not fair to take honey away from their hive and not let them participate in the Honey Cup. The Empress becomes furious at this. They then accidentally pour honey on Empress.
Beatrice appears in the throne room. The Empress reprimands her sister. Beatrice speaks very gently to The Empress. However, Maya continues to actively defend the rights of their hive. As a result, the queen invites her and Willy to participate in the Honey Games. If they win, their hive will be pardoned, but if they lose, the queen will take all their honey. Sir Beegood is instructed by the Empress to gather a team for the Poppy Meadow.
Over the course of three days, teams from the five meadows will compete against each other. At the end of each day, the team with the lowest score is eliminated. The teams competing are Buggy Hollow, Burly Bluff, Aphid Gorge, Tropolis and Poppy Meadow. Willie and Maya go to their team's base of operations. There she meets Craig, Spinder and Bedford. None of them believe in winning the games. Also arriving at the base are privates Arnie and Barney.
The next day, the competition begins. In the first round, Maya's team loses to Team Burly Bluff. In the second round, the heroes go up against the Team Tropolis. They lose again, but gain points. By some miracle, Maya's team manages to beat the team of Buggy Hollow by one point and stay in the competition. Violet from the Team Tropolis thinks of ways to get back at Maya.
Violet invites Willy to join her for dinner and treats him to pollen. She then plays out a scene, saying that Maya hit her. It turns out that Violet is Beegood's daughter. Beegood gives Maya her first and last warning. One more and she will be kicked out of the competition. Maya resents Violet's arrogant behaviour. Willy is crazy about Violet and sees nothing wrong with her.
In the morning, Maya wakes everyone up for training. On the second trial, Maya leaves her team and tries to be first to the finish line. Without Maya, it becomes more difficult for the team to advance, but eventually Poppy Meadow comes in third place. The other team members are unhappy that Maya has abandoned them. Willy tells the others that if they lose, the Empress will take all their honey. This brings the heroes together in a big way.
On the third day of the challenge, the heroes have to overcome a maze. Maya binds everyone with a spider web so that they don't get lost. Willy accidentally breaks away from the team and wakes up the Megabeast. Violet, not wanting to lose, starts to catch on. She puts herself above the team to live up to her father's expectations. Teams Poppy Meadow and Tropolis make it to the finals. In the evening at the dance, Violet takes Willy away. She starts to bargain with him, but he is snatched from her clutches just in time. Violet promises to leave Maya's team alone if they beat her in the Slug Hill race. Maya agrees, but Violet sets her up this time too. Maya smashes the Honey Cup that was supposed to go to the winner of the race. Beegood banishes Maya from the competition for breaking the trophy. Willy still does not believe that it is all the fault of Violet, whom he is simply fascinated by. Now all responsibility for the final falls on Willy's shoulders.
In the final, the teams have to pass all the obstacles, collect ruby pollen and come first to the finish line. Maya comes out to the Empress before the final game to apologise for making all this mess. The Empress allows her to compete, but in return, the Empress promises that she will take the harvest from the Poppy Meadow every year. Meanwhile, Violet's father decides to cheat, he tells his daughter to use a secret passage on the mountain to outmanoeuvre the competition.
As everyone takes cover from the hail, Willy falls behind again. He spots Violet's team, taking them for his own. When he catches up with Violet, he sees her team leaving through a secret passage. Violet tells Willy to lie to Maya. He becomes disillusioned with Violet. Maya is not discouraged, she encourages the team, saying that they can win fair and square. Maya's team is the first to reach the pollen. But then they hear Violet's cries for help. Her team is trapped in a web by Thekla. Maya and her friends rescue Violet and her team. Violet is surprised that Maya came after them. She apologises for being nasty.
The teams head out for one last race, but before the finish line, Violet slows down, allowing Team Poppy Meadow to win. Violet reveals her father's cheating to everyone, and also notes that Maya saved them. Beegood protests, trying to give the victory back to Team Tropolis. Beatrice manages to reason with her sister. She gives the victory to Poppy Meadow. The sisters finally reconcile, and then everyone goes off to celebrate the end of the competition.
